2010 - 2011 SEASON

WELCOME to the GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY!

Expand your world—join the Geographical Society of Philadelphia for Travel, Exploration, and Adventure … without leaving town! No passport required!

Since 1891 the Geographical Society has been exploring the world and bringing it to the public with a focus on travel, exploration, and history. We present Magellan Circle events and a series of eight films and illustrated lectures. Our prestigious Annual Dinner is open to members and the public. The Society awards grants for polar exploration and research.

OUR PROGRAMS:

Magellan Circle

Extending the Society’s rich heritage into the future … Circle members have exclusive events such as lectures, the Magellan Dinner, private receptions, and tours to unique destinations.

Travel / Adventure Programs

People, Places, Perspectives … Distinguished speakers roam the globe experiencing and recording the most interesting sights and sounds - cultural practices, celebrations, historical landmarks, and scenic splendors. This season, eight modern-day Marco Polos bring exotic places, exploration, and adventure to our members and the public.

Annual Dinner

This traditional Society event on May 11, 2010 featured travel icons Arthur Frommer and his daughter Pauline Frommer. It was held at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing, overlooking the Delaware River and port.
